Amy, 22, Cambridge: Student

I first went to see Cathy Gunn after I had been suffering from M.E./Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for almost 3 years, having previously been very physically active and with many other hobbies. My family has a history of joint and muscular problems, and my own were amplified by the debilitating effects of the M.E., including severe headaches, poor sleep, and a lot of stiffness and muscle pain.

The sports massage therapy has been excellent for me in helping to manage this, since the nature of it allows for very intensive treatment, through massage and stretching, of specific 'problem areas', some of which I hadn't even realized I had!

What made the treatment even more beneficial was that it was flexible, incredibly thorough and also very personally tailored to suit my needs. I also received a lot of further advice on exercises and stretches that I could do to help to manage my muscular and postural problems myself on a daily basis. I would strongly recommend the treatment to anyone, athletic or otherwise, who suffers from similar problems.

"On the very wrong side of 40 and in my first season of triathlon, my body (well parts of) was complaining rather strongly. Cathy came recommended so I arranged an appointment. After a comprehensive Q & A session and assessment, Cathy got to work. With a number of weekly visits I began to fully appreciate just how interlinked muscles, limbs, posture and increased training are. Cathy had done a splendid job and I was fit for purpose.

Cathy's support, clear explanations and availability made every visit worthwhile. As a training & performance aid it cannot be ignored."

"Cathy Gunn, probably the best sports massage practitioner in Walden"

"..I've found massage is the key to helping me to avoid injury. Pre-race massage helps me perform at my best on the day. At the end of last season I ran 27:26 for 5 miles & 56:14 for 10 miles. Both times I had pre-event massage which helped towards my age category wins. Following a massage you feel great physically. Mentally you feel positive and "ready to go", knowing you have done all you can to be in the best shape when you hit the start-line. I would recommend any athlete who wants to avoid injury and compete to their full potential give serious thought to making regular massage part of their training programme."
