Preventative Treatment

Your first visit:

Many problems such as painful knees, lower-back ache , neck pain or simply feeling exhausted can be caused by postural stresses, inefficient biomechanics and repetitive overuse.That is why CG SportsTherapy undertake a full postural and physical assessment before each course of massage treatment to establish cause and effect - this includes taking a medical history

and subjective and physical examination of your complaint or problem.

This will take into account your lifestyle, leisure activities and general health. The session will take approximately one hour (including the initial assessment and 30-45 minutes of treatment).

Following your assessment and initial treatment, results will then be discussed with you to develop a treatment plan, which will be individually tailored to suit your needs:

  • Sports massage for musculoskeletal maintenance, prevention of injuries and promoting recovery in sports participants.
  • Remedial massage to help to correct muscle imbalances and aid in chronic musculoskeletal issues.

Recommendations will also be made on changes to your posture (both at work and home) and possibly lifestyle will help you to reduce stress on your body. Exercises (strength, stretching and muscle balance mainly) are also suggested to help you meet specific goals. Good technique for stretching is also reinforced taught and reinforced. This will all help to manage your complaint, and to prevent a reoccurrence. Sports massage can also be used in conjunction with other treatments - from physiotheapy and osteopathy, to chiropractor.

The frequency and duration of subsequent appointments will depend upon your practitioner's opinions following the results of your assessment, how your body reacts to initial treatment, and how your condition progresses.
