Triathlete Screening & Injuries

What we do

CG Sports Therapy provides a specialist service for all triathletes (amateur, Olympic distance or Ironman) to treat injury and to prevent it from occurring. Whilst triathletes, compared with single-discipline athletes, are less likely to injure themselves – for the simple reason that triathlon is a form of cross training – triathletes can still fall prey to injuries if they ignore the principles of rest and recovery from exercise.

Our goal at CG Sports Therapy is to prevent spinal and joint pains, and to help you improve your performance.

Triathlete Screening

Your CG Sports therapist can carry out a Muscular MOT (a postural and physical assessment of muscles and joints) to find out what may be hindering your progress or causing bodily aches and pains. We then discuss ways of correcting these imbalances. These will include stretches and strength and stability exercises, which can be discussed with your triathlete coach if you have one.

Common Triathlete injuries include:

  • Overtraining
  • Swimming injuries - swimmer's ear, swimmer's eye (conjunctivitis), swimming-leg 'whack', swimmer's shoulder
  • Cycling injuries - cyclist's knee, back pain, road rash, head injuries, fractures of collarbone and ribs
  • Running injuries - stitches, runner's knee (chondromalacia), iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS), shin splints, hamstring tears

Our treatments involve assessment, sports massage and aftercare advice to keep you healthy and free from injury.
